Pedro Aguiar, Daniel Costa and João Catalão from SYSTEC in World’s Top 2% Scientists list

The University of Porto is represented by 205 researchers and professors on the list of the world’s most cited scientists in 2024. Professors Pedro Aguiar, Daniel Costa and João Catalão from SYSTEC are proudly among this highly exclusive list. This information comes from the latest update of the “World’s Top 2% Scientists list”, which annually ranks the most cited scientists worldwide in their respective fields, according to SCOPUS, the world’s largest database of scientific publication abstracts and citations.

Covering a total of 22 areas and 174 scientific disciplines, this list—compiled by researchers from Stanford University (USA) and published by the prestigious Elsevier—features a select group of active scientists whose work has accelerated progress in their fields and influenced the productivity of other researchers.

To rank the scientists, the study used the C-Score, an indicator that measures the impact of their research based on criteria such as the number of cited articles and total citations, while also considering factors like co-authorship and author position in publications (first author, last author, or sole author).
