Medtiles: A SYSTEC Spin-off Revolutionizing Medical Training with AI

Medtiles, a spin-off of SYSTEC at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), was co-founded by researchers João Reis and Liliana Antão, alongside a multidisciplinary team with expertise in engineering, medicine, and education. The company combines science, technology, and health to address real-world challenges in medical training.

The flagship product, Medtiles Tutor, is an innovative platform that uses generative Artificial Intelligence to simulate realistic and adaptive clinical scenarios. This allows healthcare professionals to safely train critical decision-making in scenarios such as acute stroke treatment or rare diseases, with immediate feedback and tailored difficulty levels. Educators can also customize cases, creating a highly personalized and practical learning experience.

Medtiles has already demonstrated significant impact, with over 80% of users reporting improved knowledge retention. Collaborations with institutions like Hospital da Luz and the Catholic University of Portugal, as well as recognition from the National Innovation Agency (ANI) with the ID Seal, highlight its potential in clinical and academic settings.

With strong support from SYSTEC and FEUP, Medtiles is preparing to scale its solution internationally, with plans to expand to Spain, Italy, and Brazil, while continuing to innovate in AI-driven medical training.
